Review

The tests on this track are carried out by numerous producers of cars, and in a week when Finns carried out the tests, on the route it was possible to see new models from Audi and Volvo. In tests of Tuulilasi VW Golf GTI was used, and efficiency of braking was estimated on Audi A3. In all tests the referensny tires allowing to monitor change of conditions and level of coupling were used.
Eight sets of summer tires at a rate of 225/45 R17 were tested, and all tires possessed an index of speed of V, except for Avon with an index Y. Besides tires of premium brands tires of a mid-price segment, and also rather new Nankang of the class "house-keeper" which as a result could give experts a surprise were included in the test.

RESULTS OF TESTS

Controllability on a dry covering
Michelin provide the most exact and bystry reactions to turns of a wheel. At the central provision of a wheel pleasant weight is felt, and tires quickly respond to teams even at the smallest angle of rotation of a steering wheel. Nokian are obviously less informative, but in respect of the accuracy of reactions they can be considered the second the best among the tested tires. At the same time at sharp change of the direction they respond not so quickly as Michelin. Further the trio follows from Uniroyal, Yokohama and Avon. The first two tires respond to teams of the driver almost also well as Nokian, and Avon react a little zamedlenny. If to speak about the accuracy of reactions at the central provision of a wheel, Uniroyal were recognized as the best of this trio, Avon follow further, and Yokohama is smeared react at a small angle of rotation of a steering wheel. During sharp maneuver from these three tires Avon, podverzhdy high reputation of the brand on racing tracks most reliably behave.
In the first discipline BFGoodrich, Nankang and Barum which all provide less good controllability fell by the last places, including during the emergency maneuvers, and react to turns of a wheel less quickly. The outsider recognized this time Barum which, including, it is worse than others follow on the chosen trajectory during a rerate.
The best time on a dry track was shown by Michelin whose high cross rigidity allows them to maintain big loadings and to remain on a trajectory in wide turns where some other tires began to show an insufficient povorachivayemost. Michelin also well cope with sharp turns and bystry changes of the direction. At the same time during sharp braking in turns the easy insufficient povorachivayemost can be shown. Nokian too well cope with loadings, and besides neutrally behave during braking in turns and at high speeds.
Avon and Yokohama behave predictably in the majority of situations, but at the same time where other tires could have only a small excess povorachivayemost, Yokohama began to slide on a back axis. Tires Nankang and Barum are most strongly inclined to an insufficient povorachivayemost, and and Barum became the only tires which afforded drifts on a back axis even at small speeds.
Controllability on a wet covering
Number one on a wet track of Nokian steel which received the highest value judgment, and showed the best time circles. In the long turns Nokian trajectories even at a high speed well follow and if coupling begins to be lost, the behavior remains controllable. Uniroyal feel on a wet covering in the elements too. Controllability and stability of coupling at them nevertheless not the same level as Nokian, but Uniroyal behave neutrally at coupling loss, and in general they confirmed that tires of this brand possess very good indicators on a wet surface.
Nankang could show the same time as Michelin on the wet route, and both of these tires behaved with pleasant predictability on a coupling limit. In wide turns with acceleration it is necessary to be accurate, but It should be noted that Michelin and Nankang has a good accuracy of reactions to actions of the driver. Avon lose coupling at big speeds more sharply, than Michelin or Nankang, but in general tires keep predictability of behavior practically in any situation.
Yokohama possess less strong coupling, than leaders though too behave rather logically, and are most of all inclined BFGoodrich and Barum to drifts on a wet surface. In rainy weather it is necessary to be especially careful on Barum which can sharply change the behavior in the middle of turn and pass from an insufficient povorachivayemost to superfluous. On the dry track Barum behaved approximately also, however there all of them kept the acceptable controllability level.

Braking
Most effective both on dry, and on a wet covering stop tires from Michelin and Nokian, and the last place in both cases was taken by Barum.
Resistance to hydroplaning
Tests were carried out on the curved section of a track covered with a 12-millimeter sheet of water. The pilot gradually increased speed while tires did not give in to hydroplaning. By drawing up rating the speed when controllability was completely lost was also considered. The best for steel Uniroyal which begin "to emerge" at 81 km/h and completely lose coupling only at 93 km/h.
Nokian too warn in advance the driver about hydroplaning, and the difference between the beginning of "emersion" and loss of control in their case made 10 km/h. Michelin took the third place, having conceded to Nokian only 1 km/h. The result of Avon made 9 km/h, Barum and Nankang are a little less - 8 km/h. BFGoodrich lose coupling at once and completely at 87 km/h, and Yokohama even quicker - at 84 km/h.

Profitability
Tests were carried out in vitro in which according to ISO 28580 resistance to swing was measured. Tests showed that Yokohama are able to afford to cut fuel consumption for 2,7% even in comparison with tires on the second place and if to compare to the worst tires in this regard, consumption of fuel can grow by 7,7% at once. It means that the car with fuel consumption 6l/100km upon transition from Yokohama to Nankang will begin to consume 6,46l/100km.

Noise and comfort
Avon were the most silent tires, and this time Nokian got the second place. Pilots also subjectively estimated a possibility of tires to absorb roughnesses of a paving, and the appreciation received for comfort Barum, Michelin, Nokian and Uniroyal. By the most rigid it is expected were sports Avon with Y speed index are recognized.
